Privacy Policy

Car Keys Near Me is a trading name used by a network of independent, self-employed auto locksmiths, each operating as a sole trader in their own area. UK wide mobile service (no public premises). When we pass your enquiry to the locksmith covering your area, that locksmith uses your details as a separate, independent data controller in order to carry out the work.

You can contact us about privacy at info@carkeysnearby.co.uk or by phone on 07520 651 727.

We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) under registration number ZC167952.

When you use our quote form or contact us, we may collect:

• Your name and phone number.
• The service you need (for example lost key, spare key, lockout).
• Vehicle details you provide, such as registration, make, model and year, and the location of the vehicle.
• How urgently you need help.
• Your device location, only if you tap "Share my location" on the quote form, so we can pinpoint the vehicle. This is optional and you can decline in your browser.
• Technical and usage data, including cookie identifiers, approximate location and marketing attribution (such as the campaign that brought you here), where you have consented to analytics cookies.

• To respond to your enquiry, provide a quote and arrange for the work to be carried out. Our lawful basis is taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, and our legitimate interest in operating our service.
• To contact you about your request by phone, SMS or WhatsApp using the details you give us.
• To understand and improve how the website performs, using analytics. Our lawful basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

To get your job done we pass the details you submit to a trusted local auto locksmith from our network so they can attend and carry out the work. We also use trusted service providers who process data on our behalf:

• Messaging and email providers, to send us and you notifications about your request.
• Website hosting and infrastructure providers.
• Google Analytics, for website usage statistics (only with your consent).
• Google Ads, for conversion measurement and remarketing (only with your consent).

We do not sell your personal information for unrelated advertising. We only share what is needed to respond to your request and run our service.

Some of our providers may process data outside the UK. Where that happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as UK adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Agreement, to keep your information protected to UK standards.

We keep information only as long as we need it:

• Enquiry and quote records — 24 months from your last contact with us, so we can handle follow-up questions, service issues and repeat work.
• Invoices and accounting records — 6 years after the end of the relevant tax year, as required by HMRC.
• Website analytics data — 14 months in Google Analytics, then automatically deleted.
• Cookie consent preference — 12 months, or until you clear it in your browser or via our Cookie Policy page.

After these periods the information is securely deleted or anonymised.

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Ask us to correct inaccurate data or complete incomplete data.
• Ask us to erase your data in certain circumstances.
• Object to, or ask us to restrict, our processing.
• Ask us to transfer your data to you or another provider (data portability).
• Withdraw consent to analytics at any time.

We respond to all requests within one month. We do not use your data for automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.

The quickest way to exercise these rights is our data access & deletion request form. You can also email info@carkeysnearby.co.uk. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

We use essential cookies to run the site and, with your consent, analytics cookies. For full details and to change your choice, see our Cookie Policy.

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls so only authorised staff and the assigned locksmith can see your enquiry, and reputable providers for hosting and messaging. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information and will notify you and the ICO of any qualifying personal data breach without undue delay.

We contact you about the enquiry you submitted. If we ever send service updates or offers by SMS, WhatsApp or email, you can opt out at any time by replying STOP or emailing us, and we will stop immediately.

Our services are aimed at vehicle owners and are not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us their details, contact us and we will delete them.

Our site may link to third-party websites. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices, and we recommend reading their privacy policies before sharing data.

We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will appear on this page with a revised "last updated" date.
